IDENTITY THEFT ALERT!
We all have probably received those phone calls from the "IRS"--actually identity thieves/scammers who are looking to take as much money and assets from you that they can latch on to.
Today--Monday, May 13, 2019--we were alerted to a new scam in our region, and this is one we want to make you aware of. A good friend and client of ours called to say that they had received a phone call from the "Social Security Administration". Not unusual, you say? This time, they were saying that the Social Security number has been suspended and they want you to VERIFY your Social Security number! In fact, Debbi—in our offices, also received the same phone call today as well.
At Field Law, pc, we want to take the time to remind you that the IRS will NEVER call you and the Social Security Administration with NEVER suspend your Social Security Number. These are all scams, whether they say you "owe" money to the IRS or whether they are "suspending" Social Security numbers. They only want your money, assets and identity. Don't give it to them!
What you can do is to ask for their IRS or Social Security Administration Badge Number, their Station Number, where they are located at, and to then speak to their Supervisor. Most of the time they will hang up on you and not call you back. If they are persistent and keep calling you back, invest in a loud referee's whistle so that when they do call you back you can blow it loudly into your phone. They'll get the message.
If for some reason you have been victimized by these individuals and they have stolen money from you, report it immediately to your local Police and/or Sheriff's departments. As always, be careful who you give your information to. It's your identity, life and legacy that we want to help you protect.
